Long Live Rembrandt

2019 was the Rijksmuseum’s Year of Rembrandt. The museum had issued an open invitation to submit contributions to a grand summer exhibition. There were 8390 artists who submitted a work of art for this unique opportunity to be part of an exhibition in the Rijksmuseum. 600 works were chosen to be exhibited. I am of course very happy that my "selfportrait with two circles" made it through this selection!

I wanted to make an obvious copy of one of Rembrandt's paintings and chose his selfportrait with two circles.  It is a 'gum over palladium' print; the base is formed by a palladium print. For some more tonality and a layer of warm black I made a Gum print over it, using the same negative.
